POSTPARTUM Doula Care

Postpartum doula care serves everyone in the home. As your postpartum doula, my focus is to help everyone in your family get their needs met, so that you can bond deeply with your baby.

Easing the transition for your newest member of the family.

This is your time to heal and bond, and I approach it with gentleness, flexibility, understanding, and love.

While the birth doula package includes two in-home postpartum care sessions, many families choose additional postpartum care to transition during this delicate and hazy time.

Tip: A postpartum session (or a few) is a great gift idea for baby showers!

Postpartum care means different things to different families, so let’s connect to discuss how I can best assist you.

Postpartum doula care can include things like:

  • Newborn care while birther and partner sleep / shower / eat
  • Recommendations for professional in-home or virtual lactation support from an IBCLC
  • Teach newborn care basics, such as: swaddling; soothing techniques, bathing; Baby’s developmental needs week by week
  • Instruction on baby wearing and safe baby carrier use
  • Emotional support to process your birth experience
  • Care for other children or pets in your home, or give parents a chance to have special one-on-one time with older children while family adjusts to the new baby
  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Connect with local providers who specialize in postpartum physical and emotional care

What's not Included in postpartum doula services?

Postpartum doula care is all about supporting your recovery, your emotional wellbeing, and your growing confidence as a parent. That might look like holding the baby so you can shower, helping you process your birth story, or making sure you have something nourishing to eat, but it’s always grounded in emotional presence and practical support, not task lists.

Here’s what’s not included in postpartum doula services:

  • Deep cleaning or full housekeeping
  • Running errands
  • Medical tasks or clinical advice
  • Formal lactation consulting (though I can absolutely help troubleshoot and refer you to specialists)

Think of your postpartum doula as someone who supports and guides, rather than someone who’s there to check things off your to-do list.
